Waqf Amendment Bill 2024: The Modi government introduced the Waqf Board Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on Thursday (August 8). As soon as this bill was introduced, the discussion on the Waqf Board has once again intensified. The opposition is calling this amendment bill anti-Muslim and is constantly opposing it. This bill has now been sent to the Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC).
Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has targeted Uddhav Thackeray over the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. He said that when the bill to destroy the Waqf was being brought, these people (Uddhav Thackeray’s MPs) turned their backs and ran away.
Attack on Uddhav Thackeray
Asaduddin Owaisi alleged, ‘On Friday, all the MPs of Uddhav Thackeray’s party of India Alliance ran away from the House. When the Speaker asked to speak on the bill, no MP of Uddhav Thackeray’s party was sitting there, everyone was sitting in the canteen eating chana chaat. Uddhav Thackeray talks about Muslims in his Hindutva. Now he will say big things in the Maharashtra assembly elections. He wants the votes of Muslims, but when the bill to destroy the Waqf was being brought, these people (Uddhav Thackeray’s MPs) turned their backs and ran away. Now the Muslims of Maharashtra will have to identify their friends and enemies.
‘This bill violates the basic structure of the Constitution’
Earlier, raising questions on this bill, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had said, ‘The central government is constantly raising questions on the properties of the Waqf Board. It is being compared with the economies of small Gulf countries. India is a very big country and it is wrong to compare it with Gulf countries. This bill violates the rules of Articles 14, 15 and 25 of the Constitution. This bill violates the basic structure of the Constitution.’
